Holiday collections reviews should be coming soon (as soon as I get my hands on them)~~
As seen in the title, I am going to review another travel retail exclusive item: the Givenchy Travel Collection Trio Rouge Interdit Shine.
I seriously don't know why is this photo so dark. The rest of the photos are fine. Any photography experts out there who can give me some tips?
The colours in this set are 18 Ibiza Pink, 3 Blush Shine and 5 Candy Shine.
Look at the packaging of these lipsticks. Isn't it gorgeous?
The tube is a transparent deep grey with flecks of silver glitter through it.
The bullet itself has a mirrored finish embossed with the Givenchy logo and name.
From left: 18 Ibiza Pink, 3 Blush Shine and 5 Candy Shine.
Swatches (left was a single swipe and on the right was a built up swatch with several passes).
From left: 18 Ibiza Pink (Cherry pink with multi colour shimmers. The colour looks almost red when you build it up), 3 Blush Shine (peachy nude with a hint of brown along with multi colour shimmers) and 5 Candy Shine (candy pink with multicolor shimmers).
This product is really a love and hate item for me. I like the way it looks on the lips because although it has a shiny sheer/ translucent finish, the pigmentation is amazing and the colour do show up very well on the lips. The glitter particles are visible but not overly obvious from a normal viewing distance, and it gives a gorgeous high shine look to the lips. In addition, I am very impressed with the staying power. The shine will wear away after 2 hours or so but it leaves a stain-like effect behind. It will survive drinks and occasional nibble of food and on me, it stayed on for 4 and half hours, which I think is really good for a product with this kind of texture. With the glittery formula, I was expecting it to be drying on the lips but it surprisingly isn't. It doesn't dry out my lips at all even if I wore it for an entire day (with reapplication of course) without putting on any lip balm.
On the other hand, the scent and taste really annoyed me. I am normally very forgiving towards scents in lips products, but even I find the scent of this lipstick to be very nauseating. This lipstick has a strong perfume-like scent that is so strong and it lingers for a long time (at least 15 minutes and once I was still able to detect it half an hour after putting it on). I often get headaches from wearing this product because of the scent. Besides that, the taste of this lipstick is awful. If you accidentally taste the product, I kid you not, it taste like soap. Not a good thing in a lip product is it.
The texture is ok. It's not particularly smooth and creamy and you can certainly feel the glitter particle as you put it on and when you press your lips together. You also need to be careful when you put this lipstick on because it does have a slight staining effect, so you do not want to get it outside your lip line or it will stain your skin a little.
Overall, I like the colour of this product on the lips and the high shine glossy look. However, I will like this product a lot more if the scent is less prominent and if the taste is not as horrible. To be honest, for a high end brand like Givenchy, I just have such high expectations (this is the first Givenchy makeup product that I have tried) and these lipsticks fell a little short.
Here, I was wearing the Rouge Interdit Shine in 18 Ibiza Pink. I love the way this colour looks on the lips.
You might have seen this photo in my Estee Lauder Violet Underground palette review (link).
I was wearing the Rouge Interdit Shine in 3 Blush Shine. The peachy nude colour doesn't show up exactly on the lips but it does add a peachy tinge to my lips. This colour looks very natural on my lips.
Also wearing the Rouge Interdit in 3 Blush Shine here.
Lastly, here's what 5 Candy Shine looks like on the lips.
