Laura Mercier Holiday Colour Collections | Christmas 2012

Hi everyone. MERRY CHRISTMAS!! This review might be a bit late since it's already Christmas day but I hope it will still be an interesting read for you. Also, I think that most of the items are still available so you can still pick it up for yourself/ a loved one as a year end treat. (Who says that gift-giving is only for Christmas?)

Laura Mercier released several holiday collections this year. There is a Signature Collection that is the most luxurious and high-end of the releases (LINK). The packaging for the Signature Collection is very luxe and gorgeous but it comes with a hefty price tag too. A Body and Bath Collection was also released with limited edition sets of Laura Mercier's beautiful candles, lotions, hand creams and bath products (LINK). There's also a collection called the "Art Deco Muse Collection"(LINK). The Art Deco Muse Collection has colours that are perfect to create a luxurious festive party look.

The Holiday Colour Collections is the only one that caught my attention. This part of the collection contains:
  • Glamour Wardrobe- Dual Decker for Eyes, Cheeks & Lips
  • 2 Colour-to-go Portable Palette for Eyes, Cheeks & Lips (Cool Neutrals & Warm Neutrals)
  • 2 Mini Lip Glace Collection (Rich Berries & Soft Nudes)
  • 2 Mini Baked Eye Trio (Smoky Metallics & Golden Metallics)
  • Deluxe Travel Brush Collection
  • Smoky Effects Mini Kohl Eye Pencil Collection
  • Artist's Palette for Eyes (Sephora Exclusive in the US)

Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura | Christmas 2012

Hi everyone. It's 10 days till Christmas~~~ Although Malaysia is not overly Christmas-sy, I am very much looking forward to my family's Christmas dinner. Our dinner last year was a great success so we must come up with something better to top it this year. I am looking at recipes online to get some ideas but if there are any recipes/ dishes that you guys recommend then please let me know in the comments!!

Also, I still have another 2 Christmas/ holiday collections to review so I will try to step up my game and test the products quickly so that I will hopefully be able to review them all in the next couple of days. *fingers crossed*

Getting back on topic, I will be talking about the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura collection today. You might want to go grab a drink because this post is potentially quite lengthy.

"once upon a time, while the town was being decorated for Christmas with ornaments a small miracle took place in the atelier of Karl Lagerfeld’s castle.“mon shu girl” escaped from his sketchbook - a “dessin” come to life! spreading colorful times and holiday sparkle to girls around the world. mon shu girl dons Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic look and awakens the sleeping beauty that lies deep within. this holiday season, shu uemura and Karl Lagerfeld send a miracle of color and beauty that is a gift for every girl." source

This collection was centered around "Mon Shu Girl", who is dressed in Karl Lagerfeld's iconic white shirt and black tie while wearing Shu Uemura's makeup product. A little random fact, did you know that Karl Lagerfeld uses Shu Uemura's color makeup in his illustrations because he thinks that no other brand in the market offers such beautiful colours?

Dior Grand Bal Collection Review | Christmas 2012

Hi everyone. I am going to review for you one of my personal favourite releases this Christmas/ holiday and it is the Dior Grand Bal Collection. This collection has such an opulent touch to it in terms of the colours and packaging as well as the name: Grand Bal (which literally means Grand Ball in English, obviously).

This collection contains:
  • The Dior Grand Bal Couture Makeup Palette (Palette Grand Bal Carnet de Maquillage, inspired by the Carnet de Bal which is the dance card that dancers in the past would write down the name of their partners)
  • 4 Diorific Lipsticks (037 Diorling, 038 Diva, 039 Lady & 040 Marilyn for regions outside of Asia. Instead of the 4 red shades, the names are the same in the Asian version with different numbers and colors: 340 Diorling, 520 Diva, 653 Marilyn & 677 Lady)

Clinique Whole Lotta Colour Chubby Stick Gift Set | Christmas 2012

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I last updated the blog and I am back with some good news! My skin has gotten a lot better since my last post, which was a very hefty and photo heavy project 366 post (here's the LINK to that post just in case you haven't seen it).

I am almost certain that my skin problem was caused by an Origins moisturiser and a Skin 79 bb cream that I was trying. Both of the aforementioned products are very rich, so using both of those together were just too much for my oily skin, especially in the hot humid climate that is Malaysia. Ever since I stopped using these two products, the little bumps on my skin have gone down considerably and my skin do not get oily as quickly throughout the day.

Now that my skin is better, I thought I must quickly get on with my reviews for Christmas/ Holiday 2012 makeup collections since Christmas is just over a month away now.

The first product that I will be reviewing for you is the Clinique Whole Lotta Colour Chubby Stick Gift Set for Christmas 2012.

Project 366: Week 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 & 37

Hi everyone. A quick announcement before I start this post: I recently started trying out some Origins skin care products and some of the products are not getting on very well with my skin because I noticed that my pores have gotten more noticeable, my skin has gotten oilier than usual and I got a lot of little bumps on my cheeks (I've always had these but there's so much more than usual). As a result, I haven't been in the mood to wear much makeup let alone take photos and try out products to review.

I have quite a few holiday makeup products that I will be reviewing for you guys once my skin gets a little better. Which will be very very soon, I promise!!

Without further ado, here's the photos.
#218 Spam and kimchi onigiri (or musubi?) that I made for lunch. Super simple to make but it was so yummy! I tried wrapping it with seaweed when I made it again recently and it was even better with seaweed \(^0^)/

Givenchy Travel Collection Trio Rouge Interdit Shine Review

Hi everyone. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Christmas collections are slowly being released where I live and I am so excited to go into the stores and see the products in real life. As I mentioned in this post, I am trying to pool my resources for my Christmas shopping, so I ended up digging through my photos folders for items that I bought and photographed a while back but have yet to review.

Holiday collections reviews should be coming soon (as soon as I get my hands on them)~~

As seen in the title, I am going to review another travel retail exclusive item: the Givenchy Travel Collection Trio Rouge Interdit Shine.
I seriously don't know why is this photo so dark. The rest of the photos are fine. Any photography experts out there who can give me some tips?

Kiss Me: Heavy Rotation Coloring Eyebrow (03 Ash Brown), Heavy Rotation Marker Pen Eyeliner (01 Deep Black) & Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara S (01 Deep Black)

Hi everyone. I know it's still way too early but is anyone as excited for Christmas as I am? Besides the jolly atmosphere, scrumptious meals and legit reasons to drink lots of champagne, one thing I am most excited for are Christmas collections from beauty brands.

I have a never-ending wish list but since my family and friends do don't Christmas gift giving, I am trying to skimp on my other expenditures so that I can have a little year end shopping spree (for myself and for my 250 follower giveaway. wheeee~).

That means I am not planning to get much for the blog in the weeks to come but guess what, my lovely supportive friend (Hi Jean!!!) gave me a surprise gift in the form of some Kiss Me makeup to review. I feel so loved and lucky to have people in my life who supports me and what I do.
Here's the makeup Jean gave me. From left: Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Marker Pen Eyeliner in 01 Deep Black, Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Coloring Eyebrow in 03 Ash Brown and Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara S in 01 Deep Black.

Laura Mercier Signature Colour Essentials for Face, Eyes & Lips Review

Hi everyone. I am going to review a makeup set for you today. I really like makeup sets like this because not only is it a great way to try out different products and colours, it also tend to cost less than buying each product individually.
As seen in the blog title, the main character of this post is the Signature Colour Essentials For Face, Eyes and Lips by Laura Mercier.

I bought this set during the Nordstrom anniversary sale and I wasn't planning on reviewing it until I saw it in Laura Mercier counters in Malaysia. For people living in the US, this product is a Nordstrom exclusive item and it's still available online (as of 16th of October 2012).

Project 366: week 27, 28, 29, 30 & 31

Hi everyone. Time has flown by once again and it's time for another project 366 blogpost.

Before I get into that, I just want to let you know that I am 10 followers away from hitting 250 followers on GFC, which I am very excited about. I am planning to do a giveaway when that happens so keep your eyes peeled for that ^-^ Besides that, I have also set up a facebook page for my blog, so I will really appreciate it if you can pop over and click "like" HERE.

Photo time~~
#183 I went to Singapore for a friend's wedding and this is the view from my room at the Fullerton Bay Hotel.
#183.5 Lunch at Pollen restaurant at the Gardens by the Bay. This was a deconstructed English Breakfast dish. The eggs were cooked to a wobbly perfection, with a savoury touch from the crispy bacon and umami from sauteed mushrooms. The tomato sauce added some acidity which makes the dish light but fulfilling at the same time.

Tokidoki 24 Karat Edition Pittura Brush Set, Pittura Brush Set & Siberia Blush Brush Review

Hi everyone. I present to you: THE CUTEST BRUSHES EVER!!!! (in my opinion of course)
From left: Tokidoki 24 Karat Edition Pittura Brush Set, Siberia Blush Brush & Pittura Brush Set

The 24 Karat Edition Pittura Brush Set was released quite a while ago but I missed out on it then. I managed to find it on Amazon but the price was much more expensive than it originally was. Even with the steep price tag, I still think that these brushes are worth it.

Hi everyone. I am going to review some Holika Holika products for you today. I have had these items for a couple of months already but I just have too many product reviews to get through, hence the massive delay. (Returning readers might have spotted these in my last Project 366 post HERE)

I have the Love Fantasy Blush in 01 Pink Fantasy, 02 Peach Fantasy & 03 Red Fantasy; the Heartful Moisture Lipstick in BG401 Baby Beige, CR301 Sweet Coral & OR210 Fresh Orange and the Face 2 Change Dial Gloss in 04 Shine Pink.

Guerlain Meteorites Miniature Pearl Collection (Travel Exclusive)

Hi everyone. Do you guys enjoy Duty Free shopping? I absolutely love it and every time I hop on a plane, the first thing I do is pull out the travel retail catalogue and check out all the travel retail exclusive items. There's always sets or travel palettes that will make any makeup addict swoon.

I picked up this item (and a few other) when I traveled to Singapore about a month ago and I cannot be more in love with it. So much so that I am thinking of getting a full size version already!!
The item that won my heart was the Guerlain Meteorites Miniature Pearls Collection in 01 Teint Rose. This miniature version is travel retail exclusive.

Dior Golden Jungle Collection Review

Hi everyone. As mentioned in my previous post, here's the review on Dior Golden Jungle Collection for fall/ autumn.

I would have gotten this post up earlier but something very disastrous happened to my blog over the weekend. I was formatting some folders on my phone and not knowing that my blog and phone are somehow linked to each other, I lost every single photo that I posted on my blog as a result. I then spent hours and hours trying to locate all the photos on my many hard disks and re-uploaded everything one by one. When I managed to re-upload everything, I noticed that many of my blog posts links are broken(that includes links on the blog and on search engines). It was an absolute nightmare.

Let's just hope that nothing of that magnitude will happen again.

Anyways, sorry for going off topic yet again. Let's proceed with the review.

This is quite a huge fall collection with two Golden Jungle Palettes, four 3 Couleurs Glow, one Dior Vernis Duo, two Dior Vernis, two Dior Blush, one 5 Couleurs Palette, one 5 Couleurs Designer Palette, three Rouge Dior, four Rouge Serum and four Dior Addict Lipsticks (Full list on Dior's website: link). As the name of the collection implies, this collection mainly consists of golden tones as well as hues inspired by the jungle, such as earthy brown tones and various green shades.
I purchased the 5 Couleurs Designer Palette in 308 Khaki Design, 5 Couleurs Palette in 774 Golden Savannah, Rouge Dior Rouge Serum in 430 Gold Beige Serum and the Golden Jungle Crocodile Effects Nails Dior Vernis Duo.

Les Merveilleuses by Ladurée Autumn 2012 Cream Cheek Base Review

Hi everyone. I was planning to write about the Dior Golden Jungle collection for this post but I fell in love with the Les Merveilleuses by Ladurée Fall 2012 Cream Cheek Base in #101 Vermillion (I know, the name is so long) that I have to let it jump the chewylove blogpost queue.

Famous for their macarons as well as delectable cakes and pastries, Ladurée has since ventured into the cosmetics market with the launch of Les Merveilleuses by Ladurée in early 2012. The brand's products includes base makeup, cheek color, lip colour, eye shadows, brow palette, mascara and accessories (source).

I think that Ladurée cosmetics are only available in Japan at the moment but the internet tells me that Europe will get it in fall 2012 and US will eventually get it as well (source). My best friend got it for me when she went to Japan for holiday. If you are reading this post, I LOVE YOU!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVELY GIFT.

Ok, enough of me talking. Now the product.
I am sure a lot of you already know that I have a weakness for pretty packaging. Look at this box, isn't it beautiful. If you think this is gorgeous, wait until you see the actual product.

NARS Joie de Vivre Cheek Palette (Nordstrom Exclusive) Review

Hi everyone. I am going to show you guys one of my favourite palette in my makeup stash: the NARS Joie de Vivre Cheek Palette. I missed out on a similar palette called the NARS Danmari Cheek palette (Sephora exclusive) back in the days, so I was very determined to get my hands on the Joie de Vivre Cheek Palette which is an exclusive item for the famous Nordstrom anniversary sale.

This item was sold out almost instantaneously so it is not available anymore. However, the blushes are all permanent shades that are available individually so if you guys like the colour, you can still pick up the shade you like.

Without further ado, tadahhhhhhh!!

Project 366: Week 22, 23, 24, 25 & 26 (6 months in)

Hi everyone. It's time for another project 366 post. I have quite a few makeup review posts to get through so this post will be one of the longest cumulative project 366 post ever with 5 week's worth of photos. It is just easier for me to post all the photos in one go rather than splitting it up into separate posts. I hope you guys are ok with it~~

And.... we are 26 weeks in which means that we are half way through the project 366 series. I need time to slow down a little, I am kinda overwhelmed >-<

#148 I was wearing the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm. I like it so far and I will be reviewing these Kissable balm stains soon.

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would know that I went through quite a bit of hassle to get these, as I have to buy them twice off ebay because the first package just never arrived. The seller still hasn't refunded me by the way. Does anyone know if I can dispute this sort of cases, with Paypal or ebay?

Shu Uemura Chocolat-Donna Collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 (&1st Giveaway Winner Announcement)

Hi everyone. I can't believe how fast this year has flown by and that it's nearing the end of August now. In some parts of the world, autumn/fall is fast approaching. Autumn/fall is actually my favourite season in terms of weather and feel but I am not a very big fan of autumn/ fall makeup collections. Out of all the releases thus far, few have caught my attention and the Shu Uemura Chocolat-Donna collection is one of it.

A makeup collection inspired by chocolates. How can I possibly resist?

Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base Review

Hi everyone. I am going to apologize for my disappearance from blogland for over a week. My new macbook pro has been a problem child and it has been dying on me all the time. So I had to send it in to the service centre, and as a result, I have been computer-less for the past week or so. (Can't believe I survived this ordeal to be honest)

To my horror, the problem seem to still be around. Some online forums suggest that the cause of such kernel panics (the actual name of the problem) might be due Google Chrome. So I have switched over to Safari for now and all I can do now is pray strong and hard that my macbook pro will not die on me again.

Anyways, makeup!! I am going to share my thoughts on the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base today.

This product seems to be a favourite of many beauty bloggers and youtubers. I have been wanting to get it for a long long time and I finally caved recently during a beauty promotion at my local departmental store (I got a RM10 cash voucher for every RM100 spent). Best decision ever because I am in love!!!

RMK 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi everyone. Does anyone have a weakness for limited edition collections? I know I do. Somehow the special packaging and the fact that it's "limited" seems to be able to rope me in every time.

When I first laid my eyes on the RMK 15th anniversary eyeshadow palettes, I knew that I had to track them down because these palettes are simply beautiful.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour Review

Hi everyone. I am very excited about what I am going to share with you today!! This product is no doubt one of the best items that I have discovered in recent times. And it is.....

I have very oily lids and no eye pencil-type product, not even the renowned Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pencil or the Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes, can last on my eyelids without smudging. The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eye Pencil stays on pretty well, but I still need to set it with powder and it will eventually smudge too.

I have long since given up on the hope that I can find a pencil/ stick shadow product that can withstand the oiliness of my lids, until I saw a youtuber named Raeview raved about these Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour. I always trust her recommendations, so I went and bought 3 shades to try out and I immediately fell in love with it. This product last on my eyelids on its own and it will only smudge a teeny tiny bit at the end of the day. If I set it with powder, it will stay on and look pretty much perfect for hours and hours.

Project 366: Week 18, 19, 20 & 21

Hi everyone. I am a bit late on this since it's been 4 weeks since my last project 366 post. I meant to post this over the weekend but I have been sick for about a week, and I have been lying in bed and dozing off the entire weekend T^T. It's Tuesday now and I am still not feeling my best.

I have a few beauty products reviews lined up but I haven't had the chance to take pictures of them yet. As soon as I feel better, I will take photos of them and churn out more blogposts for you guys. So please look forward to that!!

Anyways, let's hope that my mind can function properly for me to produce a coherent blogpost in my current flu-medicated, dizzy and teary-eyed state.

#120 Daegu-smile ddokbokki~~ This is a Korean spicy rice cake dish that I attempted to make. The cherry tomatoes smiley face is a little creepy-looking on hindsight. Oh wells, it tasted pretty good although the sauce was a little too thick!

Hi everyone. I have yet another Etude House review for you today. I've always had some glosses from the LUCIDarling collection and I recently purchased an eyeshadow palette and the highlight powder in the range, so I decided to do a collective review on them.
The packaging is really nice in my opinion. It photographs so well too!!

I have the Fantastic Gradation Eyes in #7 Miss Tangerine, Fantastic Gradation Cheek in #4 Mix & Glow and Fantastic Rouge Gloss in #1 Party Red, #3 Pixel Milky Pink & #5 Pixel Coral.

Saturday, July 14, 2012's 1ST giveaway

Hi everyone. Long time no speak. I feel like such a blog sloth since my last post on the blog was 5 days ago. I have been a little busy this week so I feel too tired at night to churn out a post. I hope you guys will understand.
Anyways, I have something very exciting for you today!! It's my first ever giveaway!!!

I have been planning this giveaway ever since I hit 100 follower on GFC but it took a little while for me to decide on and gather the prizes. Without further ado, let's see what you will win!
Tadahhhhh~~~ You stand a chance to win 10 Revlon Lip Butters, 1 Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in Grapefruit Jelly and 6 My Beauty Diaries face masks (When I first published this post, some of the photos were a little too dark because of my camera setting. I finally couldn't stand it any longer and I photoshopped them. I think they look much better now *happy face*)

NCLA Self-Adhesive Designer Nail Wraps (Hi-fi Stereo) Review

Hi everyone. A few of you commented on my nails in my previous post on the Canmake Nudy Glow Rouge and Candy Wrap Lip glosses (click), so I am going to talk about the product that I used to achieve that look in this post.

As seen in the blog title, I did my nails using the NCLA Self-Adhesive Designer Nail Wraps.
I am horrid at painting my nails, so there is no chance of me being able to do nail art myself. Luckily, there are products like the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips that I reviewed here and this NCLA Self Adhesive Designer Nail Wraps that have done all the hard work for me.

For your information, the design that I bought is called Hi-Fi Stereo.

Canmake Nudy Glow Rouge (02 Strawberry Whip, 05 Honey Latte & 06 Peach Milk) & Canmake Candy Wrap Lip (02 Navel Drop & 03 Peach Shower) Review

Hi everyone. When I was trying to decide what I want to review for you in this post, I realised that I haven't talked about any Japanese cosmetics on my blog. I went through my makeup stash and picked out some Japanese products that I love to share with you.

First up, Canmake Nudy Glow Rouge and Canmake Candy Wrap Lip.

L'oreal Colour Riche Balms Review

Hi everyone, I have a quick post for you today. I have mentioned several times on the blog that I like sheer lip colours, so I think it is only expected that I'll get my hands on the L'oreal Colour Riche Balms sooner or later. I mean.. products that gives me the "my lips but better" look are exactly my cup of tea.

Anyways, before I get into the review, I am going to do a little rant first. I bought these off ebay because these Colour Riche Balms are not released in Malaysia. They appeared sealed (with the little piece of sticker) but three of them have been opened and swatched!!!!! I have heard that there are no testers in US drugstores so sometimes people open the product to swatch the colour or maybe it's my seller but I really don't think so because the seller seems to have more than one of the product available.

I feel so disgusted and even though I sanitised the product twice before swatching them, I still feel icky to put it on my lips. To whoever who opens and swatches drugstore products, please stop doing it!!!!! It's so selfish and inconsiderate!!! There's loads of information and pictures available online FOR FREE, so why do you need to do that??? WHY?????

Ok, rant over, now the review.

Nature Republic Apple Dome Blusher (#1 Pink Apple & #2 Coral Apple), 4D Flower Powder (#2 Lucid Pastel) & Mango Bebe Lip Scrub Review

Hi everyone. Have you heard of a Korean cosmetics brand called Nature Republic? I didn't know that this brand is available in Malaysia but I stumbled upon the store when I was walking around in a mall. Needless to say I went in the store and picked up several items on impulse that I will review for you now(these unplanned purchases left me so broke T^T).

I purchased the Apple Dome Blusher in #1 Pink Apple and #2 Coral Apple, the 4D Flower Powder in #2 Lucid Pastel and the Mango Bebe Lip Scrub

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher Review

Hi everyone. As many of you might already know, Etude House is one of my favourite Korean cosmetics brand. There's several reasons for it:one, there's quite a big store in a mall very close to where I live; two, the store has such a lovely interior that I always feel so happy whenever I go in; three, the packaging of the products are so cute and pretty.

So what am I reviewing for you today?? Jjang~~jjanggggg~~ It's the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blushers. I have eventually collected the entire range of colours so I think it's time to review it!!

Being a blush-addict, it's only understandable that I find these irresistible right?

Project 366: Week 15, 16 & 17

Hi everyone. Another 3 weeks have passed and that means it's time for a new Project 366 blog post. I always have so much fun putting these posts together and I hope you guys enjoy reading it too.

#99 Suki fell asleep using the remote as her pillow. I really wanted to change the channel but I couldn't bear waking her up because she looked too cute snoozing away.
